| Save time and energy and get right down to the task of final tillering with a pre-shaped rough tillered hickory board stave. String grooves are already filed for you. Cut from hand selected vertical grain white (sapwood) hickory with a little brown core here and there. 72" long, handle area is 1" thick plus or minus 1/16" plenty of wood for a rigid handle as is or even a glue on riser. The grain of the wood runs 75-90% vertically with the board. An economical way to make a good hunting bow from affordable materials without having to search through mountians of boards for the right stuff!! Goes great with our bamboo or linen backing strips. Makes a strong bow with or without a backing. For bows over 50-55# a backing of linen or bamboo is strongly suggested. These staves are made from quarter OR rift sawn stock and will show vertical lines on the backside, perfect for youth bows 30 pounds and under.. They are 65"; long and about 1" wide with enough handle area for a small hand and an arrow rest. Handle comes solid and unshaped so you can custom cut it to fit your childs hand. |
