U-finish Penobscot Indian bow.

The Penobscot indian bow. Perhaps one of the first compound bows ever built . Named after the penobscot Indians who ingeniously firgured out that this design had many desirable features . Adjustable draw weight , reduced hand shock, More stability . Better accuracy , sweeter draw . The U finish bow is already assembled , tillered and adjusted to your personal draw weight and length. The back strings are adjusted for you as well. The only things you need to do is the finish sanding , round off the edges of the handle area fit your hand comfortably and apply the finish of your choice . You can even add a leather handle wrap and a sliver arrow rest if you prefer not to shoot off of your hand. The U finish bow is warranted for 30 days or until you start sanding and finishing. This is a fun project and will make a bow that is one of the sweetest shooting bows you will come across.This bow can be adjusted to high draw weights without over stressing the main bow simply twisting the back strings tighter. I can adjust the draw weight up to 65# for you . After that my back is not as young as it used to be and it will be up to you to adjust it.You can even adjust the bow to fit the spine weight of your arrows amking the bow much more accurate .It may take a little time to tweek or tune the bow in but once you are grouping arrows you will see it is worth it. draw weights up to 65@31 .specify in space provided when ordering. Adjusting the draw weight To adjust the draw weight of the penobscot bow simply lay the bow on a bench belly down. Put 1 or 2;blocks under each tip. Clamp the center of the handle down to the bench causing the main bow limbs to reflex backwards a little bit thus releasing the tension on the back strings. remove one loop on each of the back strings and give it 2-3 turns tighter or looser depending on wether you want to increase or decrease the draw weight. Unclamp the handle and. replace the 2 blocks with a 2 1/2" or 3 block and replace the back strings. Reclamp the handle area .The bigger the replacement block the tighter the back string will be ,the tighter the back strings the higher the draw weight. The strings are now tighter and the draw weight has increased. Do not use over a 4 block for the tips . Piece of cake.
